About

The Recreational Division is designed for students who wish to participate in dance as an enriching extracurricular activity while maintaining flexibility for other academic, athletic, and personal interests. As part of Oklahoma Dance Center's commitment to providing quality arts education, recreational students receive age-appropriate instruction from experienced faculty within a structured learning environment that emphasizes both skill development and enjoyment.

Students may explore a variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop, and specialty classes depending on age and availability. Classes focus on developing fundamental technique, coordination, musicality, creativity, classroom etiquette, and self-confidence while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Unlike Oklahoma Dance Center's Academy and Pre-Professional Divisions, the Recreational Division does not follow a prescribed training pathway or minimum weekly training requirement. This flexibility allows students and families to select classes that align with their interests, schedules, and personal goals while still benefiting from high-quality dance instruction.

Performance opportunities are an important component of the Recreational Division experience. Students are encouraged to participate in showcases, demonstrations, and selected productions that allow them to share their accomplishments, build confidence, and experience the excitement of performing before an audience.

The Recreational Division reflects Oklahoma Dance Center's belief that dance education should be accessible to all students regardless of their level of commitment or long-term goals. Whether pursuing dance for fitness, creativity, social engagement, personal enrichment, or simply the love of movement, students are welcomed into a positive environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
